KwaZulu-Natal province is situated on the eastern coast of South Africa, and this position makes it one of the great holiday destinations for those looking for warm weather. It has a subtropical climate and some jaw-dropping landscapes, provided by the breathtaking Drakensberg Mountains. It’s the country’s second-most populated province and has an equal balance of rural and urban areas, with an estimated population of 12.4 million people. The main language spoken in this region is isiZulu, and there are cultural villages around the town of Eshowe that showcase the traditions of the indigenous Zulu people.
The capital city is Pietermaritzburg, which is home to the country’s National Botanical Gardens. It is known as the ‘city of flowers’. The other city of note is Durban, an Indian-influenced harbour city that is popular for its beaches and water and land activities, including the popular uShaka Marine World.
The safari destination Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, in the northeast, is home to black and white rhinos, lions, and giraffes.
