Afrika Borwa Experiences had a chat with Palesa Dikgale to learn more about her background, her passion for travel, her favourite Southern African destination, and what she enjoys about travelling, and she also shared some travel tips with fellow travellers.
1. TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF
Despite my initial shyness, I have discovered a vibrant and outgoing side of myself, especially when surrounded by kindred spirits who share my zest for life. Getting to know new people may start off as a quiet endeavour for me, but once I find my rhythm, I become a beacon of enthusiasm and warmth.
I’m a passionate adventurer at heart, constantly seeking out new experiences that push me out of my comfort zone. While the idea of trying something new often sends shivers down my spine, I thrive on the challenge it brings. Adventure travel is my ultimate thrill, where I find myself immersed in the unknown, embracing every moment with anticipation and excitement.
2. FAVOURITE SA DESTINATION OR SOUTHERN AFRICAN COUNTRY
This is a tough one because we have so many beautiful places in SA, I have two favourite places: Cape Town and the Eastern Cape but between the two my heart belongs to the Eastern Cape, a destination often overlooked but filled with hidden gems waiting to be explored. Nestled in its rugged landscapes and untamed beauty the Eastern Cape province offers amazing experiences that captivate the soul. From the majestic mountains to the unspoiled beaches, the Eastern Cape exudes a raw, untouched attraction that speaks to my adventurous spirit. It’s a place where every corner holds the promise of a new adventure. While others may overlook its splendor, I find solace there.
3. WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT TRAVELLING
Travelling holds a special place in my heart because it’s a journey of discovery, a journey where each step unravels different cultures and landscapes. It’s not just about ticking off destinations on the map, it’s about immersing myself in different experiences that each new place offers. Whether it’s savouring exotic cuisines, delving into ancient traditions, or embarking on adrenaline-fueled adventures, I enjoy the opportunity to embrace the unfamiliar and broaden my horizons. But beyond the thrill of adventure, what truly resonates with me is the chance to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, to share stories, and to forge meaningful connections. Travelling is a humbling reminder of the vastness of our world and the richness of people’s experiences. It’s a journey that not only expands my worldview but also makes me grateful for the blessings in my own life, as I come to realise that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side—it’s the diversity of experiences that make life truly beautiful.
4. WHAT IS THE BEST TIP/ADVICE YOU CAN SHARE WITH FELLOW TRAVELLERS
The best advice I can offer other travellers is to embrace flexibility and spontaneity. While planning is important, leaving room for unexpected adventures and opportunities can lead to some of the most memorable experiences. Traveling with an open mind and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances allows you to fully immerse yourself in the journey and make the most of every moment. So, dare to stray off the beaten path, say yes to new experiences, and allow yourself to be surprised by the magic of travel after all you only live once!
