WESTERN CAPE PROVINCE

The Western Cape is a South African province with coasts bordering the Indian and Atlantic oceans. It has a relatively large population of about 7.4 million people and is known for the port city of Cape Town, set beneath Table Mountain, part of a national park of the same name. In Table Bay, Robben Island is the notorious prison that once held Nelson Mandela, and is now a living museum.

The Western Cape province is home to some fantastic scenery, historical landmarks, and the Cape Floristic Region (fynbos biome), an area of intense natural beauty that is also a World Heritage Site. With a heady mix of mountains, dramatic mountain passes, endless views of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, sandy beaches, salty lagoons and bays, amazing rock formations, interesting caves, fossil parks, San rock art, steep cliffs, waterfalls (in rainy season), Cape Winelands, wildlife and marine wildlife safaris, and picturesque small towns and villages, the Western Cape province will surely leave you breathless and excited to keep you coming back.
