MPUMALANGA PROVINCE

Mpumalanga (Zulu name for “the place where the sun rises”) is a province situated in eastern South Africa, bordering the countries of Eswatini and Mozambique. The capital city of Mpumalanga is Mbombela, and the province is a major tourist destination for its fantastic selection of wildlife. Mpumalanga province is mainly made up of grassland and savanna biome, making it an ideal destination to spot the big five (Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Buffalo, and Leopard).

Mpumalanga is home to the iconic Blyde River Canyon, the third largest canyon in the world, the Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Three Rondavels, Pinnacle Rock, God’s Window, spectacular waterfalls, part of Kruger National Park, and exciting activities such as hiking, horseback riding, white water rafting, kloofing, hot-air ballooning, fly-fishing, biking, tours, and boat trips on the Blyde Dam. The province is also home to the Barberton Makhonjwa Mountains, which were added to the World Heritage Site list in 2018.
